Moscow, Russia, 14 May 2020 - PJSC ZiO-Podolsk (a subsidiary of Rosatom’s machine-building division, JSC Atomenergomash) has manufactured and shipped a second lot of equipment to the Riverside Energy-from-Waste Plant in the UK. The delivery includes one third-stage superheater and two fourth-stage superheaters.
The equipment is designed for steam superheating. Each superheater is about 9 metres in length, 4 metres in width, and 3.5 metres in height. Under its 2019 contract with Hitachi Zosen Inova, ZiO-Podolsk is expected to manufacture third and fourth-stage superheaters for the Riverside EfW Plant. In total, Rosatom will supply eight units of equipment: six third-stage superheaters and two fourth-stage superheaters. The weight of the provided equipment will total 100 tonnes.
The superheaters will replace equipment with a similar function as part of the plant’s major upgrade. This contract became the first instance of Russian equipment being manufactured for a Hitachi Zosen Inova-operated energy-from-waste plant based outside of Russia.
Riverside Energy-from-Waste Plant is one of Hitachi Zosen Inova’s reference projects in the United Kingdom. The plant was built on a turnkey basis and put into operation in 2010. Its average processing of municipal waste amounts to about 585,000 tonnes annually.
