Kathmandu, the capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, hosted a roundtable devoted to developing Russian-Nepali cooperation in energy. The roundtable was held in the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Kathmandu with the assistance of the Russian Embassy in Nepal.

During the roundtable Rosatom South Asia representatives demonstrated Rosatom State Corporation core business directions in nuclear energy, medicine, water desalinization and treatment, among others. A special emphasis was given to Rosatom’s capabilities in organizing hydro-energy projects, as the main point of interest for the audience.

Representatives from business and academic communities attended the roundtable, including the Nepal-Russia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Association of Nepali Graduates from Soviet Union and Russian Universities “Mitra Kunj” and the Non-Resident Nepali Association.

During the visit to Nepal Rosatom South Asia representatives also met Honourable Mr. Barshaman Pun, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Nepal and Mr. Pravin Raj Aryal, Spokesperson of the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Nepal. The meeting concluded with the agreement to continue dialogue on utilizing Rosatom’s competences in Nepal.
