On June 11, at the construction site of the Rooppur NPP (the General Contractor is JSC Atomstroyexport, part of the Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division), being built in the People's Republic of Bangladesh, a support truss was installed in the design position in the reactor building of Unit 2.

The support truss is one of the most important elements of the equipment of the reactor pit and it is designed to reliably fasten the reactor vessel and protect it from weight and seismic loads.

The truss is a welded metal structure, consisting of radial beams, which are poured with special concrete. The support truss is designed for thermal and radiation exposure over the entire lifetime of 60 years.

After completion of the installation of the support truss, the reactor pit will be concreted to the level of +16,500 meters and the thrust truss, which is designed to fasten the reactor vessel at the upper level, will be installed.

“The installation of the support truss is one of the milestones of 2020. It was implemented 16 days ahead of schedule. But in general, work on the construction of the first and second units at the Rooppur NPP is in compliance with the schedule,” said Sergey Lastochkin, Vice President and Director of the Rooppur NPP Construction Project. “The construction of the Rooppur NPP is carried out in compliance with strict sanitary and epidemiological safety measures. A remote temperature measurement procedure has been introduced, not only at the entrance to the site, but also at the entrances to office buildings and the canteen, a special disinfecting cleaning of all office rooms and vehicles is carried out, employees have been provided with masks, gloves and sanitizers. Field control of personnel by doctors is carried out at construction facilities,” Sergey Lastochkin emphasized.

Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division

For reference:

Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division was established by integration of the leading companies of the industry: ASE EC JSC (Nizhny Novgorod), Atomstroyexport JSC (Moscow), Atomenergoproekt JSC (Moscow) and ATOMPROEKT JSC (Saint-Petersburg).

ASE is one of the global leaders in nuclear power engineering holding about 30% of the global NPP construction market. The Engineering Division operates in Europe, Middle East, North Africa and the Pacific region.

Foreign projects account for about 80% of the portfolio.

ASE implements design and construction projects for high-power NPPs, it renders a full range of EPC, EPC(M) services and develops Multi-D technologies for management of complex engineering facilities.

The Engineering Division draws on the lessons learned from over the 50-year history of the nuclear power industry in Russia and state-of-the-art technologies.

We construct reliable and safe NPPs with 3+Gen VVER reactors that are in line with all international requirements and recommendations.
