Deputy CEO of ROSATOM Nikolai Spasskiy held February 17 negotiations with an IAEA delegation led by Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards Tero Varjoranta.
 
They discussed practical aspects of the cooperation of Russia and the IAEA in the safeguards on the whole and issues of the safeguards application to the International Uranium Enrichment Center (IUEC) in Angarsk. Special attention was paid to the Russian safeguards support program (RSSP), which is an efficient tool for training of the staff and testing mechanisms for safeguards activities.
 
Technical aspects of implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Actions on the Iranian nuclear program approved by UN Security Council’s Resolution 2231 were discussed in detail.
 
Following the negotiations, the Arrangements and guiding principles of the cooperation were signed. The document describes specific measures and procedures to implement RSSP as relates to ROSATOM’s scope of responsibilities.
 
The practice of working consultations will be continued.
